Failure investigation, component repair and remaining-life assessment after blade failure and rotor–stator contact

After more than 29,000 operating hours, a blade failure disrupted rotor balance and caused rotor–stator contact, resulting in extensive component damage. We disassembled and inspected the unit, confirmed the failure mechanism, repaired or replaced affected parts, reassembled and tested the unit, and completed a remaining-life assessment before return to service.
