Huatian Completes Overhaul Projects Across Four Gas Turbine Platforms

Heavy-duty and aeroderivative capability demonstrated on delivered work, including hot-section and DLE combustion system localisation

Huatian service engineers working the compressor inlet during an overhaul.

WUXI, China — Huatian Gas Turbine began in maintenance, and overhaul remains a core capability across heavy-duty and aeroderivative platforms from multiple original manufacturers. The following is completed work.
GE10 heavy-duty major overhaul. The unit arrived with 77,560 fired hours — more than two overhaul cycles overdue — a fractured first-stage compressor rotor blade, foreign object damage across every compressor blade row, first- and second-stage turbine buckets burned beyond service limits, and heavy corrosion in the liner and transition piece. Huatian executed a full teardown with borescope and NDT damage mapping, combined precision blade repair-and-extension with replacement of unsalvageable rows, validated post-repair aerodynamics by CFD, and localised the critical hot-gas-path components and the DLE combustion system, validated through rig and engine testing. The engine was returned to full mechanical and aerodynamic specification.

LM2500 and RB211-24GT. Core engine overhaul capability covers full module teardown and inspection, reverse engineering and technical analysis, remaining-life assessment, compressor restoration, high-temperature component repair and performance verification.
Damage tolerance without OEM data. On an imported unit with foreign object damage and no OEM design or repair documentation, Huatian deployed a field engineer within 24 hours, then used damage tolerance simulation and its in-house design database to establish that the defects were within allowable limits — avoiding an unnecessary teardown and blade replacement, and delivering a monitoring and inspection programme instead.

A gas turbine MRO base established by the equipment subsidiary of a national oil and gas major now operates at Huatian’s Wuxi facility.
